In recent years, the world has been confronted with more acts of terror than ever before. Attacks on Western targets have increased people’s awareness of how real the threat is and that the danger can get very close. As a result, counter-terrorism measures have become more stringent throughout the world. In the maritime sector too. Security regulations and directives for ships and terminals have been formulated. These are set out in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, the ISPS Code.

If your company serves seagoing vessels of 500 gross tonnage and upwards engaged on international voyages, you must comply with the ISPS Code. To make it simpler for you to achieve this, the Port Facility Security Toolkit has been developed in a joint effort by AON Risk Consultants and Qubus. It is an instrument that enables you to generate a Port Facility Security Plan after completing a comprehensive questionnaire (the risk assessment). The extra measures your company must take in order to comply with the ISPS Code are listed in a separate Action Plan. You can then get down to work on these actions, after which you can input the changes in the Toolkit. In this way, you find yourself in a 'loop' as it were, whereby the Action Plan becomes smaller and smaller so that you can ultimately submit your Port Facility Security Plan for approval to the designated authority.
